I would have to say common juniper. But the leaves are a little off to me. I know I was close. I only know of four junipers. The common, The Utah, the Aligator, and the one seed.

I agree with John, plus I don't have too much experience with Juniper

You know now that I really think about it I remember somewhere that the one seed juniper is the same as the common juniper. At the same time I have resources that tell me that they are two different varieties of Juniper. What do you think?

Yep its common juniper(juniperus commonus) also called dwarf, mountain, low,Siberian, prostrate, and a few others. It grows at 5000-10000 ft (the high hint) and grows low to the ground(the low hint). It rarely gets over 3 ft high and spreads to about 10 ft in length. The real identifier are the leaves. They resemble small 'awls' and are in bundles of three and are pokey to the touch. The berries are pretty much the same as most other junipers and are generaly resiney tasting. Good job guys.

That one was in the White Mtns at a campground above Big Lake in Sept. It was the first time I had come across the Common Juniper and had to take a picture of it. The mushroom pics I posted were also taken there that year.

The mushroom pics are under the Nature, wildlife, etc photos under the post "Total Shroomage".

Here's another one for fun. This berry is toxic to eat but has medicinal properties from the root. Can you name it?

It's Baneberry (Actaea rubra). All parts of the plant are TOXIC except in the use of advanced herbalists. There is also a white berried version of the same plant in the eastern US. where the two sometimes grow side by side. That photo was taken in the White Mtns of Az.

Do you have a picture of the bark?
So I can compare to the two junipers I can identify, aligator and rocky mountain juniper.

No I don't have a picture of the bark. Sadly when I saw this it was the first time I encountered it and just took 2 quick pictures of it. Since its a higher elevation juniper I have not been around any more to taken more detailed pictures. But I can tell you that the bark is redish brown and scaley. Hope that helps some.
